Paula Carreira has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon, with a thesis on the reception of 18th century Aristotle in Portugal, addressing the intersection between intellectual and political discourse. She has a degree and a master’s degree in Classical Studies from the same faculty. She is a contract researcher at the Centre for Global Studies at Universidade Aberta, where she coordinates the thematic line ‘Mobilities and exchanges: global circulation of knowledge’. She was awarded a doctoral scholarship from the FCT and a research grant for various funded projects, including “Pombalia: For the construction of a Pombaline corpus: Part I – The Pombaline Historiographic Writings” (2019-2022) and “Historical Dictionary of Orders and Congregations in Portugal and in the Lusophone Countries” (2007-2010). She is also president of the board of the European Institute of Cultural Sciences Father Manuel Antunes, where she has been working since its foundation. She collaborated in proofreading several works and participated in the organization of several international scientific events, namely: International Congress Europe of Nations (Aveiro, 2011); International Congress Council of Trent: Restore or Innovate – 450 years of History (Braga, 2013); International Congress of the Holy Spirit: Genesis, Evolution and Utopia of the Universal Fraternity (Alenquer, 2016); International Congress Rethinking Portugal, Europe and Globalization: 100 years – Father Manuel Antunes (Lisbon/Sertã, 2018).
