
The Memory: Law and Reality Workshop took place on May 27, 2025. This scientific meeting was held at the University of Cologne (Schloss Wahn), as part of the activities of the Mnemonic Reality project.
The program included several presentations prepared by members of the core research team, organized in three sessions: 1) Presentation of the Study “Criminalizing Holocaust Denial in the EU: Compendium on 27 Member States”; 2) Presentation of
the Empirical Study “Mnemonic Reality: Societal Views on Holocaust Denial Bans in Germany”; 3) Memory Laws in Context.
In addition, specialized guest speakers were invited, contributing to a collective, interdisciplinary reflection on the topic of memory. Invited speakers: Ronen Steinke (Süddeutsche Zeitung); Martin Heger (Humboldt Univ. Berlin); Henning de Vries (Univ. of Marburg); Marc Grimm (Univ. of Wuppertal); Ida Richter (The Bavarian Academy of Sciences and Humanities).
The meeting served to discuss and deepen the main research lines, particularly the relationships between Law, Memory, and History, as well as to bring together contributions from various experts to the work being developed within theproject.
